Cream Legbar Pictures

Pics

Is this a female legbar? If the egg was not blue is it a mix?

NO...if this came from a non-blue egg there is not way it could be a Cream Legbar mix. Cream Legbar Hens lay blue eggs so if it was a non-blue egg then for it to me a mix the flock sire would have to be a Cream Legbar. Cream Legbar males are double barrer so both the male and females from a cross will come out single barred which would be shown by a spot on the head. I am not seeing a spot so I would say no to this being a Cream Legbar mix.

Many chickens have the chipmonk pattern. I started hatching barn yard mixes when I was 8 years old. We always got a percentage of chicks in every hatch that were chipmonk striped. When I was 12 years old I got a flock of black brested red Old English Game Bantams. All of those chicks came out chipmonk striped (male and female). Even though they are English they are worlds apart from a Cream Legbar.

Where did you get the eggs from? It may just be a recessive gene in the line of what ever flock it came from.

I called the place I got the eggs from. He had several kinds. I got 3 kinds.

Turns out those are Rhodebar hens.
Now I'm wondering if the light golden chick is a male Rhodebar chick?
Haha
I thought it might be a splash orpington.

Here's a pic from today

nice cream legbars everyone
Here's some pictures of mine
The black chicks in with the cream legbars are silkies

Hi, thanks for posting pics. It's nice to see Cream Legbars from across the pond. The hen in the first picture is definitely center stage =)

Is that the same rooster in all photos?
The Cream Legbar club has been working on recognizing type, and visualizing that type from specific perspectives. Your camera angles are helpful as the view is from the side, more so than looking down from above.

I would love to see some examples of your rooster up on a table or workbench if you ever have the time, as that would be closer to the view a judge might have at a show. I think the side view is most helpful for visualizing the "silhouette", although all the other angles help to differentiate the finer points too.

I don't know if Cream Legbars tend to stand tall (on alert) anymore than other breeds, but the first pose is very familiar. It seems like the rooster settled down as the photos progressed, and the last picture is perhaps a more accurate reflection of his body type / silhouette?

Thank you.
Yes the first hen is center of attention :D
Yes the pictures are all of the same rooster.
He is very quiet but is alert at the same time.
They stand like other roosters
But relax easily like in the last pictures.
It was hard to get those pictures with
The winters evening sun :)
