Anyone used cconly coops?

The wood is thin it lasted 2 winters, I may have to take it apart and try using thicker wood, or just build my own, I painted it but it is cheaply made, I dont think Id ever buy theirs again. :)

Thanks for the feedback. It is a significant investment if it's not going to hold up. I have snow and very high winds where I live..so, I guess I better keep building! LOL

How is that coop working out for you?

This is the coop that I bought and I just got it this summer. I think they must have changed their design because the wood is a lot thicker than I would have thought. And the price was to me was pretty decent for prefabricated coop. Most coops at this level cost around $1,000 cuz they're crazy. I really wish I knew how to build things cuz I would rather just build my own coop cuz I want certain things inside of it. But I really do like this company and I think that they are the best company in that you will find for price and quality.

I purchased a CC only coop this past summer for my new hens. The manufacturer is close so I got a great discount because I could pick it up. I bought it and was told it would hold 10 hens. No way! It's more like 4. It was easy to put together but the wood is very thin. I caulked the heck out of all the corners to help with weatherproofing. The tray slides out for easy cleaning which I do like but once you put it together you can't get into the coop to scrub walls etc except through the little door or the run door. The nesting box is easy to get to and check but there is a crack that runs all the way across where it hinges. I had to put plastic over it because if it rains or snows your nests get wet. The boards that go in the bottom of the nest boxes just lay in there. You can push them up from the outside bottom. This is not safe and will not keep predators out. I screwed them all down and covered the bottom of the nest boxes with kitchen stickdown tiles because the gaps between the slats were so big. The coop itself is so thin it does not keep the girls warm in the winter at all. My whole coop is wrapped in plastic and tarps right now for the winter. The run was open underneath and any predator can dig into the run. It is made to sit right on the ground. I took rat wire and stapled it all along the bottom to keep out predators. There is no room in the run. If you put water and food in the run, the hens have no space. The only way into the run is the small door on the end and a side door that folds down. To get all the way in the back to clean, I literally have to crawl into it. I use a long take to get out what I can. The roosting bars do not stay in place as they just fit down into a groove. They are down everyday and one is right in front of the coop door. The coop is adorable. I painted it to match my house and waterproofed it. It just is not practical or well manufactured. And it is way to thin for the winters here in Ohio.
