Unmarked brindles are only the orangish color like I posted.
And up until you breed them it can be hard to tell if they are unmarked brindles or recessive yellows,lol. (unless you have a strict line of just brindles with no yellows thrown in any where in the backyard)
It is confusing,I know lol.

I beg to differ in the $$$ department.  My mice and rats pay not only for themselves and feed my snakes, but they pay for my chicken feed too with a little left over to boot.  Well worth it for me to keep and breed them.

The "calico" ones are sooty brindles.
True tri color mice have clear spots of colors, not smuges like in yours.
Brindles can come in all colors.
The brindle markings have to be clear to be shown, but in pets only, the markings can simply be just a stripe, dot, etc.
   I love the coloring on yours though smile

Yes there are mouse shows smile None close to Missouri though sad
Mice used in shows though look alot different then yours. They are bigger with HUGE ears and thick tails. They are usually imported or related to imported mice from the UK.
Of course you can enter in pet classes.

yes, mice are bred show quality just like cats/dogs ect. most mouse shows are in PA from what I've seen.

a true tri-color is a base color (black,blue,agouti ect, with white and another colored patch, usually brown, for example a "black" tri-color will have black, brown and white patches, and look much like a calico cat, but the spots must be even throughout the body, tri-color is what I hope to get into I've already got two breeders I'm friends with and am talking to.

a well marked brindle will, infact look alot like the the color of brindle dogs, a dark base color and dark even stripes, a lot of petshops sell poorly marked or "sooty" brindles.

and yes, there are blue brindles, I used to breed them, they're quite striking when they look "right", otherwise they look like poorly marked blue selfs.

I have brindle mice in several colors, but blue & lilac are my favorites. Im a mod on Fancy Mice Breeders  which is a great forum. Its mainly UK based , but I prefer it 100 times  over the US based ones.

Okay, first pic I see is of the tri colors you're talking about....OMG I've gotta get some of those!


.....and you're not kidding about the size.  I'd love to get my mice up to that size.

Ok, so ya got me all into research mode..according to the AFRMA, brindles must have the markings over a recognized color. So, if your unmarked are not a recognized color, then a marked one with that basee color would be incorrect. They are the only assoc that states that though, I didn't see it on the uk club.
Also, I am not finding the term unmarked brindle anywhere. I'm thinking. Better name would be whatever color it is, oand brindle carrier. Is it possible that you can't determine the color because its the sooty yellow, thus not a clear color, due to the brindle just not being fdefined?
(Sorry, got my dog breeder brain going...)

I love the merles and roans, I never had those!

Oh, not the way id want to do it. I wouldn't be raisning feeders.
