Hi! i have recently hatched chicks for the first time. 3 slw and 5 barnevelders. I couldnt decide between them so i hatched both! loving them all so much. here is a picture of Wanda, she is such a love bug.

Mine were hatched out 4/30 along with my first Mohawk line RIR's. Gee, that makes them 8 wks and 5 days old today. lol  You can see them with my RIR's on the Greg Chamness page on my site. The only fault he told me he can find in these is that their eggs are on the small side.

These are some very nice examples of the breed so far. Can't wait till they are full grown. lol

His stock came directly from Foley and these are the from his hatching's. He doesn't hatch a lot of them just a few for himself mostly. When I ordered my RIR's from him he asked if I'd like a few and he put 4 in the box and as I said, can't believe they ended up 3 pullets and 1 cockerel. lol

Haha yay a SLW thread! I just got back into chickens this year and got some from a local breeder. Hope you don't mind all the pics xD

These are the 'original five' that I got, first chicks this year. 

This is one of the pullets from that batch. We no longer have any of these five, as 3 died from our coon problem, and the other 2 we traded for an incubator xD

And then there was 20! We went back to the breeder from the first ones and got 20 brand new babies. 

And then this is one of the 20, taken today.

My chicks are 8 weeks old... They look nothing like the chicks posted in the pics slick4521 posted above...  Slick4521 how old are the chicks in the pics you posted?  The Roo I purchased is now 17 weeks and has no lacing, just white bloches on wings and back.  I emailed pauls poultry awhile back but never heard back from anyone.  I will of course try again, and Foleys for sure towards fall. 

If they're only 8 weeks, I'd give them a few months yet before deciding that they don't have good lacing, at least until the adult plumage starts coming in at (I believe) around 4 months.  Check out page 532 of the Wyandotte Thread, post 5315 (5th one down the page) for a great example of how a chick with what appears to be poor lacing can turn into a pullet with very nice lacing. 

And roosters typically feather in like that, no lacing on the wing bows or backs mostly white blotches.  If you look at the laced roosters, the lacing is primarily on the chest and primary feathers with little if anything resembling lacing on the hackle and saddle feathers.  From Feathersite:

I listed pics of my Foley Line 12 week olds and pics of the 12 month old parents earlier on this forum. This will give you a good idea of what SOP is looking for in lacing  I do not think that hatchery SLW's will ever compare to a good breeder who is trying to breed to SOP. I believe the post #'s are 56 and 71-73. Pages 6 and 8.
