Dairy sheep

Well, we have been working on getting everything ready for our sheep. We have a lot more work to do, but we have got temporary housing and fencing; we have got hay and grain and water. We have a couple close by that are experienced with sheep and are willing to help us as needed. I think we are as ready as we can be.

We are getting not 2 but 4!!! pregnant icelandic sheep tomorrow or Saturday!!!! My kids are extremely excited. Hopefully, this will work out. We are jumping in with both feet! Pictures will follow. Thanks for all your help getting us started. There will be more questions to follow I am sure.

So exciting! Icelandics are one of the breeds I'm looking into for when we move next. Love the look of them.

FaithHope, did you get the sheep? I live a little south of Springfield, and am thinknig of dairy sheep. Could we come visit?!

Ruthymoore,

I have tried to PM you but keep getting an error message. If you could PM your email address, I could email you back that way.

We do have 3 icelandic sheep. When we bought them, we were told they had been bred and were pregnant; unfortunately, we were lied to and never had any babies or milk this spring. We are going to try to get them bred this fall, so hopefully we will get to try the milk next spring.

Hi there,
Thank you so much for your posting. I am going to be attempting to make some butter from sheeps milk soon and have heard nothing but how hard it is to separate off the cream. I'm not so deep in yet that a cream separator is worth it for me. Can you offer any advice to someone skimming sheeps milk by hand?
Thank you so much!

Hello
400

My name is Umar.
Can somebody tell me what are the early sign of pregnancy in sheep. Attach is the picture of udders.
Please help

I saw your old post and we are located near Clinton Mo wondering if you are near and did you find the sheep best for using for butter and cheese purposes. We are new to our area and sheep and wanting to make butter and cheese. We have a daughter who is very ill and cannot have gluten, grains, dairy, soy, corn, and oh the lists goes on. She can have lamb so wanting to try with meat and their milk. Do you know if we can keep the different breeds together if we keep their rams separate to avoid cross breeding?
Thank you for your time
