Heating a plastic bucket nipple waterer ?

Have any of you using aquarium heaters had problems with bacteria growth?

We've had some hens with watery poops and I'm looking to find out why. The only thing that has changed recently is the addition of the water heater to their nipple bucket waterers.

Thanks!
How warm does the water get? I read somewhere that warm water will promote bacterial growth, so you just want to keep it from freezing. What are the temps offered on the aquarium heater?

@Enid Stowers This is an old thread, and not many people my be answering on it anymore.... I recently started one on this subject myself, here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/winterizing-the-waterer.1207209/

That said, I have a bucket, vertical nipples, and we just put a heater in it. Actually the day after everything froze this weekend. The heater I'm using is thermal regulated to 40F.
Thank you! I just made my bucket with horizontal nipples and am waiting for the deicer that is made for plastic buckets that also has a thermostat. Can't wait to test it out!

I use a bucket heater in mine:

Would you please explain further about this set up?

I have a plastic bucket nipple waterer, and it has started to freeze ... so it's time to find a solution to
keep the water warm. Colder temps are coming, we get down to below zero at night here for weeks at time.

Anyone here heating a similar type of waterer setup, and what are you using ? Bird bath deicer seems like the best, but just want to be sure
I am not going to start a fire ... melt the bucket with such a heater ?

For my 5 gallon metal water I followed this video, and this setup has worked terrific so far, I have the 60W light bulb on a timer for 8 hours thru the night.

Thanks,
Zekii

Might think about adding this to your set up I didn't know these were available but I bought one for my heater for my coop haven't used it yet but I hope it works https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09Q8ZVZRV?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title it's an outlet that only works if temp drop below 35
