feeding Chickens Black pepper

Daddy_roo stated that he gives his hens about 1/2 cup of pepper to about 16 cups of popcorn. Depending on how many hens you have you may want to give them some more or stay where you are for awhile and see what happens. Either way I wish you much luck!

ok I am gonna try this, I have a container of "peppercorn melange". My ladies have been laying since 9/29/11 I have 16 the most I have gotten is 14 a total of 2 times..but I mostly get a dz a day..more egg customers then eggs. Since I have not gotten 16 eggs in one day I will be "peppering" them up! I will also update with how this is going. I have the eggs they have laid since they have started..so I see a pattern. Lets keep our fingers crossed b/c I NEED more eggs!!

I think this must work because I have not had worms since I started useing snuff thirty years ago. I will try the pepper on my wife as she has not been laying frequently.

I think my hens are molting and they are not laying. I wonder if I tried this would it take too much out of them by forcing laying at a time of molting. And, if you don't let them molt is that a problem?

Okay......update for today....NO eggs! Maybe I am not giving them enough pepper......not even a cackle today...but it was very cloudy today and very rainy the entire day. I am not giving up just yet....I am desperate. I think tomorrow I will give more pepper with the oatmeal. They are definitely drinking more water....so maybe it's just a matter of time.

TOO FUNNY!

Had to acclimate the wife to hot pepper foods. Now we put 2 habaneros in a batch of chili. It works

... even better when I bring home chocolates, wine, seafood, do all her horse chores, chop a load of firewood or find some neat cast iron cooking stuff at a yard sale.

upped the "dosage" to 1/2 cup pepper this morning... put fresh hay in the nest boxes(they aparently emptied them out yesterday) and made sure they had plenty of water... will see if it helps...
