With several comments about finding it hard to obtain good quality Brabanters, has anyone purchased from Sandhill? Where have you found good quality stock? If our town changes it's regs, this is...
First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.
Wait.. your the order before mines?? Gahhh!! Hahaha I'm waiting for the black coppers to lay again. She said she has an order to Hawaii before mines... I knew it was you! Hahaha ;-)
OMG! Yup thats me! lol! I was so excited when she said she would send chicks. I had all but given up on getting actual marans chicks. Just figured I had to incubate shipped (scrambled) eggs and get one chick out of every dozen. lol
You cheat! I found her first! lol
I'm getting 20 lavenders, split lav, blue wheatons ameraucanas from La mike. It's being sent I'm the 17th!
You are very fortunate that Hawaii does not have a NPIP program . Some CONUS states won't allow you to have a none NPIP fowel on your property or they will withdraw your certification. Every state gets to set their own standards for them selves. In one state it may be easy but the state next door may be a pain in the posterior.
I'm an old coot, but happy just the same. Do something: lead, follow, or get out of the way! Keeper of 200+ Chickens and other fowl and 3 LGs and a Sportsman 1202 full most of the time.

Yay! Marans & ameraucanas In Hawaii!!
Blue wheaten ameraucana chicks? Dang it... I totally had my heart set on them last spring. I could not find anyone to send chicks so I got eggs and out of about 4 dozen eggs I was only able to hatch one chick. On a whim I bid on some eggs that were blue black splash and hatched 17 so figured wheatens were just not meant to be for me. Ok, I need to keep your info. Maybe next year if you get some wheaten babies cookin I will buy some from you!
For now this year I am gonna focus on B/B/S Ams. I do love the blues... I have not studied the lavenders much but I keep reading about breeding lavender back to black. Not sure what the reason for that is but I will have blacks if you ever need one!
How funny that we are both bringing Ameraucanas and Marans to Hawaii! We can start our own club. lol!
And I am looking up La Mike...

I just thought it was so ironic that you cannot get a bird into hawaii without NPIP but Hawaii doesn't participate in the program.
Doesn't seem to make sense. LOl

Because Hawaii is so strict about birds coming into Hawaii, it is possible that the TWO diseases tested for in the NPIP program do not exist in Hawaii.
If the diseases are not there in the state, then there is very little purpose in testing for them
Exhibition quality Blue Swedish Ducks and Gray Saddleback Pomeranian Geese, Hatching eggs available in late winter and spring. NPIP

Yeah that is probably why we have no NPIP. Makes sense.
