Have found time to have a read of this thread & have had a chuckle to myself (must have been the fart egg thingy) smile  Maybe the season is going to start a little early for you Peeps, & that is good because it will mean more keet pics &, if we are lucky, further helpful description from you!

Ozguineafowl, why not post some photos of some of your birds, doesn't matter the colour!  I have heard that you never breed any Cinnamon Guineas from your "split" male guinea flock, very strange because according to probability I would expect you to breed @ least some female progeny that exhibit @ least some evidence of the trait if factor for cinnamon on the Z chromosome?

Come on, don't be bashful Oz, we are all friends here wink  PS, you could start a new thread (don't want to send this one too far off topic) & share some of your vast breeding experience & knowledge accumulated over many years with us newbies;  I need all the help I can get as this is only my second season with them & yet have so much to learn; would be particularly interested to hear in detail your take on the colour genetics of Guineas here in oz, don't think you have said much on this yet, particularly in that you know so much? old

Thank you little oz aka googlemaster!!! bow

This link has some info on fart eggs and a pic of the a Guinea fart egg before cracking (scroll down to No Yolk), and this link shows what's typically inside of a fart egg.

I don't think my little egg is a fart egg tho... I'm bettin' it has a little tiny yolk inside wink

Thanks for the link, helpful people rock!

I finally got around to cracking open my little egg... I was right, it had a yolk. No bullseye, so it's not fertile.
I haven't found any new eggs in that pen, so it was just an off season sporadic laying fluke. (Whew, I wasn't ready for egg collecting and incubating anyway!)

I decided not to eat it because I wormed that flock not quite 2 weeks ago... I cooked it and fed it to my old geriatric dog tho. He wolfed it down, didn't even TRY to chew it lol wink
