I have been working at getting the settings right on my new camera. I posted yesterday with some of my first pictures. First Thread

I think they are getting better. Let me know what you think! This is very pic heavy lol

The days are getting much colder, and the chickens refuse to go outside. They have been spending their days pooping on my chairs in the garage converted into a run.

I'm very surprised with how well all my girls (and guys) are taking the cold. It went down to -20 once so far. January is the coldest month for us.

Our silkie pullet, Lorraine is 27 weeks old today. Still not ONE egg. Though we do think someone new has started to produce big_smile We got an oval cream coloured egg today from someone in this group! Any guessers? wink

Ruth our drake (yes.. I'm pretty certain Ruth is indeed a he, haven't changed the name.. Probably won't.. There are boys named Ashley, and Ruth is better IMO.) Like Babe Ruth. tongue

This is Honey. My favourite (next to Dixie, of course). Honey is a cochin. Mixed between partridge and buff. I love how she pulled a lot of the partridge out of the two colours. She has one really bad eye. I'm pretty sure she is blind in that bad eye, or close to it. She gets around great though. I do have to hoist her to the roosts at night.

Haha, I laughed at your pic/caption of Olive your BO! I have 2 buff orps and they are so.... (avoiding the term, 'fat') plump!! LOL!

Mom to wonderful young man in the USAF, wife to an amazing husband, owner of 2 Border Terriers, Jack and Hannah, & 1 Black Cocker Spaniel named Katie. Keeper of 2 adorable coops which house my Light and Dark Brahmas (standard and bantam), EE mixes, and my d'Anvers which I have in Dun Quail.

I looked at all the caged animals in the barn...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. Wow!  What an assortment.   I love the name, McDonald.

Married to the old dude, 0 human kids, 2 horses, 10 cockatiels, 2 parakeets, 1 sun conure, 1 amazon parrot,  1 eccentric peacock, 1 gsd, 1 pet terrapin, 1 Blue Copper Maran rooster, and 14 world famous Jersey Giants!

 

 

Stan the Man will be missed.

Yeah, I have a wide variety lol I just love so many different breeds wee

I had Jersey Giant on my list BTW. Can NOT find them in my area! he

They should be here. They are cold hardy, and would be perfect for my climate! idunno
