Mid January Hatch thread.... - Page 4

Well we are finding out that chicken math applies to eggs as well. Originally we were planning to put 12 eggs in the incubator this Saturday but the number is growing and now looks more like 21... If all goes with the current plan we will be putting in 5 ameraucanas, 5 light Brahmas, 5 marans and 6 white leghorns.

Thank goodness we got our hands on a second brooder tank a few weeks ago! hide

lau Well I just bid on TWO auctions for LF cochins!! Why did I do that?! Lol. I didn't really want to do eggs due on different days in one incubator... I'm not that good at incubating yet. Maybe someone will outbid me on at least one. I lost one of my hens last night so I need more cochins to replace her right?hide

BBS LF Cochins, production reds, 2 leghorns, and 2 EEs, Sebastopol geese, and a few ducklings. Mom to two awesome little boys, 2 and 5.

Don't give up hope yet!  I sneaked a weee peek at a couple of mine last night, and have several porous eggs that don't look as good as others, but every chick develops at their own rate...

If I were you, I would wait until day ten to make sure there is no development...

just a mom of three teens, 6 RIR, 9 Leghorn,  5 BO, 5 EE,  8 mixed breed chickens, 3 dogs, 20 some cats, and 22 angus...

so, you are on day 6.... hmmm... I would still wait. some of mine have obvious veining already, some show nothing...

When I candle them I noticed the yolk follows when you turn it, trying to get back to the top of the egg... I noticed that before any veins... are yours doing that?
