Hi all getting started with some BBS Isbars... I am a little confused on the colors... I have 7 from Greenfire... they are 9 weeks old more or less...
I have two questions:
(1) Can the splashes be mostly 1 color? I have two that I am calling splash but they are not like the splash I am used to in other breeds.... [see pics] There is a mostly black one with a highly speckled head and chest.... and there is an almost all light blue with a white chest and head.
(2) So far, only 1 of the 7 has any significant comb or redishness... seems unlikely that only 1 of the seven is a roo... are they late bloomers... but if so... i'm totally ok with that ratio!
I have 6 eggs developing day 12, The dad was Blue Isbar, as well as the green egg. the brown eggs were a blue cochin, and the white a leghorn, I am hoping for all blue chicks.
Hi, all! I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I would like confirmation. Pullet, roo, or 1 of each?
The black one is Menace (he flew out of the crate first) and the blue is Jasmine.
We hatched out first Isbar over the weekend. (and 2 double silver laced Barnevelder) Assuming it will be splash. We have 6 more Isbar eggs that just went Into the incubator.
Hoping to get some Silverudd's Blue! Their green eggs are so pretty!
My goal would be to have them for a project bird. I would love to eventually work with other breeders to have them admitted to the SOP book. I am working on creating my own "standard of perfection" for SB based of the information I can gather from those who have the birds and from research online.
Would you consider them to have a body more typical of an egg layer or a dual purpose?
Are backs flat or sloped?
What tail angle would be most common or desired or doesn't matter?
