"I'd much rather carry ticks than be a carrion eater."

"Yeah, cause then you would be resisent to diseases, and who ever said wolves dont eat carrion, eh?"

"Yeah. I'm going to go and eat a dead animal that's been rotting for so long its carcass is unidentifiable just to boost my immunity." Derek snorted sarcastically.

"Yeah, cause i eat rottig carcasses, thats why my head isnt blood free, and i dont eat FRESH carcasses" she responded sarcastic

Emily shot her sister a look "Absoulutly not! Remember what happened with Eko?"

Lisa hesitated and drew Emily aside, speaking in a low voice so the owl couldn't hear "We don't know what happened to him."

"I think its pretty obvious." Emily snorted "He went crawling back to his Master!"

"So what do you expect me to do?" Lisa challenged her "Throw her out to die?"

"Yes!" Emily hissed "Our lives are worth more then hers!"

Lisa glared at Emily "We are not murderers, if we throw her out, we are no better then the Smokewolf."

Emily didn't reply, she glared at Lisa for a moment longer and stalked away.
 

Aiden and Grace were listening idily to Lisa and Emily's conversation. "I think Emily has a point." Aiden murmured to Grace.

Grace nodded reluctently "Yes, I think it would be worth the trip to see if we can find anything about this Amber person."

"I'll go speak with the hares, are good friends of Kate. If this Amber was rescued by one of them, they'll know." Aiden said, heading down a tunnel at the back of the cave.

The tunnel was dark and Aiden had to stop and let his eyes adjust the the gloom. He knew this section of the tunnel system fairly well, it was quite easy to get lost in the dark maze of tunnels the hares had made under the forest. The scent of rabbit was strong down hear, and he could hear the faint sounds of footsteps ahead. Moments later, a white head popped around the corner. Aiden recognised it as Naika, a hare who had helped Kate escape once from Cairo's team.

Naika cocked her head at Aiden "What are you doing down here?"

"I need to ask you something, Naika" He said "Did the hares rescue someone last night, a bird by the name of Amber?"

Naika thought for a moment "Not that I know of, but Cale would know better then me. He was on patrol last night. I can take you to him if you want."

"Yes, thank you." Aiden replied gratefully, following her through the confusing network of tunnels to a larger room where several more hares were gathered, most of whom Aiden didn't recognise.

"Cale," Naika called a large male over "Do you remember Aiden?"

Cale looked at Aiden, his nose twitching "Yes, but I don't think we've met."

"The pleasures all mine." Aiden said with a smile "I was wondering, did the hares rescue a bird last night? Her wing would have been seriously injured and she goes by the name of Amber."

Cale shook his head "No, if we did, I would know." His gaze turned thoughtful "I don't know if this means anything to you, but while we were on patrol we spotted a commotion in the cave a few miles from here, the one where... Oh what are their names... Kindo and Mitar. Where they live."

Aiden looked at Cale in surprise "What?"

"Yeah, loads of bats and growling. We stayed away from there, no need to go looking for trouble."

Aiden's mind was racing "Uh, thank you Cale and Naika, this information is most helpful!" He gestured for Naika to show him the way out and the pair ran back through the tunnels back to the cave.

"Good luck, Aiden" Naika said honestly, staring at him with clear blue eyes "Kate has always been a friend to us, if you need help, you need only ask."

Aiden dipped his head to her "I will remember."
