Small, shadowy flickers could be seen in the corners of the cave, but were gone before anyone could get a good look at them.

The shadowy flickers appeared to be watching them, but moved so fast it was impossible to tell what they were, or what they were doing.

Jerome snarled and flicked his own ears, and a thick layer of wooden vines and huge thorns grew between the army and the shadows making it impossible for the shadows to attack them.

The shadows made no move to attack them, they simply watched.

 

Jingo looked at one of them and made eye contact, blinking once.

It took a few hours for the fox to finish healing the army, the wounds were minor and didn't take long to heal but the number of the soldiers made it take a while. Echo got back up and pressed her paw against the wall, forming another tunnel. She led her siblings and the army down it, taking their sweet time.
