So i just heard from someone i know that they made an incubator out of a 30 gal aquarium. and they used the aquarium hearters for this also.... anyone know anything about it or think it is even possiable???

Aquarium heaters have to be mostly or completely submerged in water to I'm curious how they used them?
I saw a video a long time ago where a kid used a 30 gal aquarium with 2 or 3 aquarium heaters to heat the water to the desired temperature. He then put his reptile eggs in a tupperware container with vermiculite. He poked a few small holes into the top of the tupperware container and weighed it down with 2 boards across the top of aquarium. This left about an inch of the tupperware container above the water. He said it could be used for chicken eggs, but (I don't think that it would do very well, because of the extremely high humidity.) This kid said that he hatched quite a few reptile eggs. I think they were gecko eggs.

i put a fan in the top of the lid the heat source was the aquarium heater set at 37.5 i but it in a glass tube of water filled the bottom of the tank with grit about 5 inches put the eggs in cardboard egg holders and away i went.
bearing in mind it was a experiment and out of 20 eggs set i got 17 hatch go figure
i was told it couldn't be done and i didn't know how to candle eggs so i was a bit surprised and unprepared for the fluffy butts
the reason i did this was because i couldn't afford a incubator and i had a hole lot of aquarium stuff and improvised

old post, but I am attempting this as we speak. I'm using a large cooler, aquarium heater in the bottom, two bricks that a smaller cooler sits on so it doesn't float. I have a heat lamp on to give me a lil more heat, allowing for the top to be open so i can run a fan, and keep the humidity from getting too high. I did this once before with leopard geckos and it worked pretty slick. fingers CROSSED!!!
yup. worked awesome. Got one chick a little early....up and about drinking, eating, and raising hell.
