I haven't lost one to predators in 3yrs since I enacted camp sdm
Yep first night out his were gone
That sucks. I wouldn't and still don't usually let them out at night unless I've trapped the area recently. It's no guarantee but if you remove a fox, within a year or so another will move in. That just means u have plenty of time to catch him before he causes trouble.
For raccoons traps can be maintained near your pens. Just don't use any bait or scent. (Don't wanna invite them). Just something visual for me like an egg.
Nothing beats a snare. Easy to set and maintain and absolutely no scent or bait. Edited by roosterhavoc - 5/20/16 at 10:59am
Nothing a 3/16 in cable snare with a few swivels can't take care of. Similar to an otter snare on steroids with an end swivel and an inline box swivel. Should prevent twist offs but I make no guarantees. Lol Edited by roosterhavoc - 5/20/16 at 3:38pm
Perfect I have an almost unlimited supply of 1/16 or 1/8 aircraft cable
This here is for juglines I never made
How big this looks? I forgot between 1/16 & 3/16 don't use any larger
That looks like 7x7. 1x19 strand is a faster slicker cable. 1/16 is perfect for fox around the neck but if you get anything around the body they could chew through it, especially a raccoon.
Can't tell but looks like 7x7 3/32 cable. Edited by roosterhavoc - 5/20/16 at 6:26pm
