How does one do that?

A few years ago, my family and I went here:hatteras.jpg                 For the 3 people in the world who don't know, that's the Hatteras Light in Buxton, NC.

lighthouse.jpgThat is NOT me on the deck. I couldn't do it. Every time I went out of the door, I felt like I couldn't breathe, and I found myself backing up until my shoulder blades hit the wall. I could stand in the light chamber and look out the door, no problem, but two steps out the door and my heart was in my throat! I watched my family members cruising around out there, casually leaning against the rail, and I was fine with that. I laughed at myself for being so silly, but there I was, scared stiff!

Harli, someday you must visit the Eastern seaboard.  From New England to Florida we have some awesome beacches and barrier islands, and not all of them are over commercialized.  Chincotgeague, Va.  may be my favorite place on earth - that is after my own little 11 + acres. big_smile.png

Folly Beach SC is called(locally) the "Edge of America" and has the Morris Island Light House at the northern edge!

It's currently being saved from erosion and being stabilized so you can't go up in it.

But it is still an historic sight to see!

I LOVE Folly Beach!  Actually, I love the Charleston area in general.  So historical, amazing architecture, astounding views, incredible restaurants, excellent parks and historic sites... it's just awesome.  Can't wait to head there this summer. celebrate.gif

Q9, if you head this way this summer, let me know!

I don't live in the city,I'm about 20 miles south of Charleston, but I know the city and area quite well.

I'd be glad to show you around or just to meet you since you seem to know the area!

Bunny it took serious meditation and breathing exercises. I took a job as a pipefitter running instrument air and control lines up vessels in a plastics plant. The highest work I did was at 525 feet on a platform 6 feet long by only 3 feet wide, and the flooring was see through grating. I had to get over it or else have a heart attack. I got over it, sort of. Every once in a great while I'll freeze up. Last time was 6 years ago, and I was only 9 feet off the ground. I was so ashamed afterward.

Three days slow... that's the problem... three days slow.

I still remember the time when I found out I had "a problem" with heights. I froze when I was crossing a creek on a log. I got halfway across, and found out that I couldn't move my feet. I was maybe four feet off the ground, the water was only maybe 18 inches deep - I'd have gotten wet, and a bit cold, but not really a dangerous situation. So why wouldn't my feet move? I stood there laughing at the absurdity of it, I mean, really? Didn't help. Eventually I  dropped to my knees, and crawled off on my hands and knees. barnie.gif
