I need something to hold my bantam and duck, so; I took an old leather purse. I cut the lining out and cut the zipper in half. Then I sewed the zipper ends down so the zipper doesn't fall off. Then I put pieces of leather on the ends so the zipper end doesn't cut the bird. I lined the bottom with plastic and tape to prevent poo leaking through, I will use paper towels on the bottom though. Then I lined the top edge (where the zipper was cut away) with leather. I put a small piece of leather in front where the birds breast will rub against. I sewed a piece of leather to the zipper strap so when it is closed can fold it in for looks and extra comfort. Every piece of leather that I sewed on was sewn by hand, by me.
