Blkjak, you beat me to the question. haha

So,DiamondDuck99...what is your answer? Both Blkjak & I have some hatching eggs. She has more variety, though. ;) BUT, I have to say that I am working on changing that.

And another question that I like to ask...what do you have already? :)

I have a nice Large Buff Rooster but he is getting beat up by my young little Americana Roo...

.
I want to keep them both but I always have to separate them.
It worked for me to have 2 Buff Roos

Does a no crow collar calm them down? I want to put "handcuff s" on him.

but that defeats the purpose of having a rooster.

What can I do to calm him down ?

JJFARMS, I really don't know...but I could send you a second buff roo. lol I have an extra very gentle one here that I have no hens for...or rather, "they aren't his type". ;)

I want to keep my Buff because I have trained him with free ranging in our yard. He keeps the hens in the pasture and off my lawn.
The Americana roo I need for breeding....but I don't think I will be able to have my cake and eat it too....lol
The Americana seems not as trainable

Can you pen him with the girls you want him to breed with? Or is he too young? Sometimes it's just hormones and they will get along after a period of total chaos.

Hey Manitoba group! I’m new here and just working on building my first coop. I should be ready for 6-8 hens by May. Do any of you know where I could find a few ready-to-lay young birds (not chicks)? Ideally Brown Bergs, Australorp, Plymouth, Wyandotte, etc. I’m between Ste. Anne and Richer, MB. Thanks!

Hi Manitoba folks, I'm new to keeping quails, after some extensive research it seems to me that they are hardy enough to thrive in our winter as long as they're protected from the wind. Can anyone verify their experience of keeping quail in the winter (properly) just for my peace of mind? Appreciate it!
