Cochinman (or anyone, please!), any suggestions? I have one Barred Cochin. I believe it's a pullet. I didn't realize they were so uncommon. She's 7 wks and a few days. Have had some 'surprises' with the different breeds as some develop so much earlier. I have a Buttercup that's been crowing since 6 wks.! My Barred has vulture hocks and the biggest feet I've ever seen! She not only looks huge, she's got quite the body weight. I've also have two Buffs, one of which is showing what looks to be a roo appearance just in the last few days. Are they a little slow to mature? Although my Bar makes the rest look little, she (maybe) seems to be the slowest to feather in. She has the bars, but still feels so soft, not as stiff feathered as the rest, although the buffs are pretty soft, too. Not much info found in my travels! I lost a Bar and two Blues within days of getting them. Very bummed. Changing the subject; when I see pics of other chicks of the same age (all my other breeds, Turken, Buttercup, Orpington, Buff Cochins) mine seem to be more matured. Is it the variety of food and exercise? Really stumped for sexing info with the Turkens. I guess what I'm asking is are Cochins slow to develop? Maybe because of their size? I'd appreciate any sites any one could suggest!
