Can I use cedar chips in my coop? - Page 3

I've always heard cedar was bad to use for any small animals, as I use to own a pet hamster and a couple pet rats growing up.
So I completely avoid it by all cost. I love the pine shavings though. I've always used them, and that's what I currently use for my Silkies.

Maybe you take some of the cedar back if you haven't cut open the bales and swap it out for pine?  To cut down on smell (& bugs in warm weather), I throw in few scoops of stall dry (available at most farm-type stores), and a few scoops of powdered lime.  The additions seems to help on odors. Just some thoughts. . .

I would only use a little. I have never used it, but knowing how strong cedar is aromatically, I don't think it would be very healthy if you only use cedar in a small coop.
