My first year with chickens, 2009, I bout 9 from a local store...all 9 were roosters! What are the chances!!
I re-homed them all through a local livestock auction....now I have what I want. 2 roos and 14 girls! 100% accurate with sexing this time...different place. Drove 5 hours to
get my girls last year!

Live in Colorado....1 Calif. white, 2 Australorp, 3 Barred Rock, 1 Gold Comet, 2 Black Sex link, 3 EE pullets, 1 Golden Duckwing roo, 1 EE/Old English Game mix roo,1 silkie/cochin mix, & 1 Production  red

What are the chances???  Where they sexed chicks?  Geez, if so, that is really bad!

I started with 2 BCM pullets last year.  Only drove 1.25 hours each way, so not too bad.  But then I was bitten by the hatching bug.  lol  I can handle 50% for each gender.  And do have a place to rehome the guys, where they will be able to free range and eventually have hens of their own.  But at the rate I am going with the % of boys hatched, my friend is going to have to set up a bachelor pad!
