For those interested, I can bring strawberries.  I know the varieties now.  I will have Sequoia, All Star, Fresca, Chandler, Quinault and Temptation.

I will only bring them if there is interest since it is a long trip for me.

Wow - what a wonderful welcome!  It's because I'm a newbie and I said I was bringing cash, right?

I am truly touched by the thought that you think I will fit in with your bunch.  And humbled.  And warmed.  And scared.  My husband thought that the maximum farm density for a small lot in Clairemont was 6 chickens, 3 worm bins, 3 composters, 12 fruit trees, 4 berry bushes, 2 fishtanks, three garden boxes, an annual delivery of 12 cubic yards of composted manure in the driveway, and -- coming soon to a roof near you -- a beehive.  However, reading all of these posts has caused me to realize that we have not been maximizing our potential, and need to think bigger, now that I have a support group.  My husband is out of town until next week, so that is just enough time to get the industrial-sized incubator and pygmy goats set up.  We will do mini-cows and rabbits when he goes on the next trip.  If he ever leaves again after this one.

Seriously - thank you to everyone in San Diego who worked so hard to get us legal, or helped the common cause.  I guess our rebel-chicken days are over, and it's time to get out the rocker now.

Now that my hello's and thank you's are up, I'll try not to be so wordy in future posts - sorry about that!  I'm a little bit excited about meeting fellow rabid farm people.  Thank you again, and I am looking forward to meeting all of you this weekend!

Cari - Thanks again for being so generous about letting me pick your brain a bit.  I talked my husband's ear off for a week after I left your farm, and Rick told me I have to wait at least another six months before I visit you again, as it is a very expensive trip ($15 gas.  $250 tilapia tank, $300 beehive, $200 in new fruit trees...).

Deb - I didn't even think about my Mother's porch - thanks for the reminder to utilize all relatives.

YeOldeBarn6 -  My egg pics are not nearly so pretty as yours, but I do have a very nice x-ray of an egg and the oystershell path inside a chicken, which is pretty cool, if you want one for your collection (ha, ha).  I won't tell you how much that one cost to take.

If a little bit is good, a whole lot is better.  That works with chickens, too, right?

San Diego (city) - 2 compost piles, 3 worm bins, 1 coop, 1 Australorp, 1 EE, 1 RLBW, 1 SLW, 2GLW.  Wait - now 2 coops, also 2 Production Reds, 2 more SLW, 1 Welsummer, 1 OE, 1 more EE, and 2 Wheaten Am's.  Wait - now also some RLBW in the incubator.  And 6 misc. in the brooder for Mom.  Trying for bees next,...

Cari, They are plants.  They are leftover from my plantings.  I ended up planting the bareroots already so those are already in my garden.  I am open to trade.
