But not everyone can afford to just go out and buy a new computer every three years. We have a total of 1 desktop and 4 laptops and they have to last as long as possible when you need that many. Well only 3 of the laptops are really needed but I got a good deal on the other one.
My computer is a lot older than 3 yrs but I just don't have the $$ to go out and buy a new one. Plus my least favorite thing to do in the entire universe is switching computers. ugh. But BYC works great for me as long as I don't use Firefox (I have an older version) so apparently my model T does fine after all. My issue is with the sidebars and white background, not the speed of the site.
My computer is my original from too many years ago. WHy should I throw out what works perfectly fine. I shudder at throwing it away while it still works. I live in a disposable world, I choose not to live that way. That's why chickens fit into my life so easily.
I have had to adjust the time spent on BYC. THe current layout is hard on my eyes. ANd I try to stay just a short time every few days. I used to be on several hours a day but that isn't working for me now. So I've adapted to the new set up the best I can, learn bits and pieces a bit at a time. BECAUSE I have come to love the socializing with interesting and knowledgeable people.
As for the sidebars--I didn't even know they were there! I have an old square monitor. Was missing out on PM's too. Oops. Have found that ,too, now.
Q. Why are some posts in wide screen and others in normal screen??? Can I alter viewing to be all normal screen? I mean, the old normal, of course.
