Would a chicken live alone?

This thread is from 2012, but, what's wrong with suggesting a bird be butchered for consumption? Not everyone views their chickens as pets, and a lot of us grow out birds specifically to eat or cull problem birds to the freezer.

I see nothing wrong with giving a bird the best life possible, and then butchering it to feed my family.

Hiya, sadly we had a visit from Mr Fox, and I lost my 3 new hens.....to say I am gutted is an understatement!!!! Some how my long standing resident hen "Betty" was left untouched , a miracle! But is now alone.......
I'm concerned now that she'll be lonely as she was the leader of the pack....
What should I do?
