My Friend is Dying of Cancer..I don't know How to Act. It seems she only has a Year to Live, Maybe 2 Years at The Most. And now in Two Weeks she's having a Surgery, that could Kill Her..Slim Chance she'll make It. But before that Surgery, she's getting married to Her Closest Friend, Jet. Friends since they Were Young..But they're Hardly Talking, and Her life has gone Good to Horrible so Quickly...

Trooping out in their first snow, to visit the vegetable garden (their daytime play area)

Off to explore the snowy vegetable garden

Maybe it's a good day to stay inside!

Maybe we'll just hang out inside for a bit...

We have one Big Friendly Dog, 5 Welsh Harlequin ducks, 2 Red Stars, 4 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Ameracaunas, 3 Black Australorps, one Speckled Sussex, and one Cuckoo Maran. Found a great home for the white Chinese goose & the Pilgrim goose, as well as the Welsummer rooster- I've learned not to give up on finding them a good home!...

Here are some snowy duck pictures . . . it is finally thawing today.   It is getting old hauling water . . . they are too far away from a power source to have a warmer.

January 2012 223.JPG

Our drake Silver and two of his girls -- they were sure there was grass down there somewhere.  They are Welsh Harlequins and I may be switching from chickens to ducks since they lay so reliably.

Do you have bread?  Is it really worth it to walk on that snow, or should we stay here in the trees where are feet are warm?

January 2012 204.JPG

This must have been a particularly good section of grass . . . they were having lots of discussions about it.

This is Bubbles, my daughters favorite duck.  I think this would make a great photo for a caption as it is clear something is up.   For a long time I thought she was mixed with Khaki Campbell, until I realized there were golden Welsh Harlequins as well as Silver . . .

EE, Buff Orp, Jersey Giant, White Silkie, Barred Rock, Dominique, Cuckoo Maran, Welsummer and Cochin chickens,  9 Welsh Harlequin ducks, 2 Rouen ducks,  9 American Buff geese, one patient husband, 4 children of assorted ages from 5 - 15
