****does anyone know this breed of dog personaly?presa canario-update*****

Koviack-my original concerns with the presa is that i ,personally, have never met one.i really don't recall hearing of one until someone posted puppies from a presa and rottie cross.i am a strong believer in dogs are bred to do certain things and that "thing" should not be overlooked.it should be enforced actually to make a better dog.pits and those types of dogs should use there muscles but in other ways such as pulling and the rope hanging trials instead of fighting.
just wasn't sure about the presa.i thank the people on here for helping me understand them more.no one said they were demon dogs .thank you for your pictures of your dog.i wanted to get people that have had them or have them to share their thoughts on them and each person will have different opinions of them based on their own experience.

with all that being said,i decided against it and went with the heeler, again. :D

I don't know what you decided to do, but I'm sure your new addition to the family is amazing!

I bought a house in 2012 by myself. Being a single female (20 at the time), I wanted a companion and guardian. So I bought a female German shepherd (my first dog). I socialized her and took her with me everywhere I went. She still has a pretty domineering personality, but she's great with kids and she likes other dogs.

I got married in October 2011, and soon after we bought a presa. She is even sweeter than my GSD. Both dogs get along great. They both whine if the other is gone. She loves kids and she loves other dogs. The one thing that annoys me about the presa is that she doesn't know how big she is, so she will sometimes brush up against people (big and small)—which can knock little kids over, but she's eager to help them up and play. We trained our presa to never lick, because we want her to understand that she cannot, under any circumstance, open her mouth to a human being.

My presa has been well socialized, and my dogs are rarely left at home by themselves. Either my husband or I are normally home. If we leave our presa alone and inside for too long, she becomes a nervous chewer (sorry, washing machine).

My parents have a psuedo farm, and we take our dogs out there a couple times a month. Our presa just walks around with the 30+ chickens and few cows... our GSD would probably eat one if we let her.

I honestly just wanted to stick up for presas because people don't like them. Presas are great companions, and they get along with anything that they are around—chickens, other dogs, cows, and cats! They're stubborn, but they're really great. You just have to train them very well. Any dog/animal can be malicious if you abuse or neglect it. I know that's a cliche line, but it's the truth.

you should of went with the presa, they are Truley amazing and solid protector of children! i see a ******** post from someone here saying a presa killed a little girl who lived near him.. in my experience! there is nothing you can do to make a Presa attack a child!

my boy is so gentle around kids and very protective of children he has not even seen before! i remember a time when he was about 7 months old and we was walking down the street as we see this guy trying to get his young kid out of the mini van, the child started crying as if the guy was hurting it and my dog went ballistic at the guy and was ready to kill him!

also i remember how much my dog would "PULL" on a leash while being walked! so for a laugh 1 day i made my 10 year old brother hold his leash and i was trying to make him pull him over... but the ******* wouldnt do it! he was gentle and then about 2 minutes later a guy come flying down the hill on roller blades and nearly smashed in to my little brother but my dog actually jumped up and knocked the roller blader off the trail in to the bushes LOL! it was funny as hell actually. the guy got up yelling the words AHHhh dont let him bite me please!! dont let him bite me, im so sorry! dont let him bite me!... i just said ohh shut up and get up and go away, he wont bite you just be careful next time!

i have Many Many true and awesome stories about my time with this amazing breed!

and dont get me wrong! they are super loving to family and friends but when they flip that switch, they become killing machines and dont do well with other dogs of the same sex.

If anyone reads anything more about presas beong bred for fighting rest assured they havent!!
They were originally bred for hunting and hurding. NOT FIGHTING, the only breed that was really and trully created for fighting is the amstaff, on which theyve sought to bring to extreme the dogs natural territorial instinct and turned it into borderline agression.
I own, and have owned ovr the couse of about 15 years a few presas. What i can personally say about the breed is nothing but praise. Their srenght, stamina, protective instinct when it comes to home and family is absolutely amazing!
Moving down the line, one cannot generalise breed traits and atribute them to an individual dog. Each dog has their own personality just like humans. it takes a lot of effort at first to vreak through and impose yourself as the leader as it is with any big breed at first, but once rhe training is done they ARE AMAZING COMPANIONSHIP, WORKING AND PROTECTING DOGS! i will neber recommend

Getting a cross between two big breeds like the presa and the rottie becasue there is no way to predict the temperament. Strongly recommes getting a full blooded perro de presa canario from a reputable breeder. I live in the UK and it was **** hard trying to get a pedigree presa from someone that wasnt dodgy looking, so i went as far as importing one from spain. I will say again NOT A BREED FOR FIRST TIME OWNERS, defintelly not tge breed for you if youre easy scared, and if you dont have the time to invest in proper training.
