Completely off topic, but glad I have some eggs hatching (hopefully) next week to turn my luck! I have had 2 laying hens have to be culled this week, followed yesterday by my broody hen keeling over and dying almost on top of her 5 week old chicks and now Pierre my 3 month old Faverolles rooster has disappeared (looks like a hawk) all in 5 days! I feel like I am doomed!!! Bad things are meant to come in 3's not 4's!!!

The only bright side is my passed away mum's chicks are doing well and the 2 frizzles both seem to be frizzling!

I hope that Tuesday and Wednesday have good hatch rates if not I might be forced to give up on my dreams of starting breeding chickens!!!

I candled my eggs today. I started off with fifteen eggs and had to pull two at one week they were infertile. today is two weeks in the incubator, i had movement in twelve of the remaining eggs, one died a couple days ago , so all together twelve out of fifteen so far. I do have a question though....... I put my eggs in around noon on the eighteenth. when do i put them lock down? i have hatched before but i am still confused on the exact time for lockdown

My eggs are due this Saturday and on the 13th and 14th of february. They'll probably hatch on the 6th and 16th. My hatches are ALWAYS late bc of a lotta reasons. And I'll b setting 12-15 eggs on next Tuesday the 7th for a class project. I have 16 dud eggs in there to test it out until then. Maybe I'll have to make a thread for the Tuesday setting~

Buuut anyways, I hope y'all have great hatchers~ post loooooootsa pics when they hatch~!

My eggs are supposed to go into lockdown tomorrow night. I have one egg that smells funny. The shell is very porus. It has a black blob in it but dont see any veins or airsac. Should I go ahead and pull that one? If I take that one out it leaves me with 3 from the first day and six from the second day. Should I wait one more day and go by the second sets schedule?
