New Hampshire Red or Buff Orpington 13 days old

Thread Starter

I just picked up 8 chicks on the 13th.  I was told the lighter ones were New Hampshire Reds and the darker ones were RIR.  I am pretty confident the RIR are really RIR but not sure about the NHR.  Can you help?

One is very light with no tail feather (i have two of these)

One is very light but has tail feathers, not quit as light as the first one and has dark blonde patterned wing feathers

The other is the RIR for color comparison purpose.

Thanks in advance for your help.

it is likely what you have are not either but sex link, with the dark ones being the pullets and the light ones being the roos. those are definitely not RIR or NH

Oh no...please no roos.  I'll be so sad.  ep.gif  I won't be able to 'conceal' roos as well as hens.  I'll end up having to find them a new home.

Thank You all.  Their all pretty.  As long as they lay eggs I will be happy.  But nice to be able to answer when people ask what kind of chickens you have.
