Tufted Roman Geese

Pics
Here are my tufted Roman goslings standing in their shipping box 2 1/2 weeks later. Amazing ! They were with 15 chicks and had plenty of room. Growing so fast.

You will love your tufted romans. I have a trio and two crosses. They are quiet, friendly and are great parents. I didnt raise my Trio they were full grown when i got them and had very little human contact other than being fed and watered, after two weeks i was able to pet them. Now they follow me like dogs when im out. I have 3 other breeds also but the Tufteds are my best as far as brooding and getting along with other geese. My crosses also seemed to inherit the good disposition of their tufted parent. I cant say the tufteds are my favorite, i dont think i could pick a breed for my fav, i love all geese.
My gander and one goose hatched 10 of 15 eggs 14 of which fully developed. 3 goslings were smashed. Then one broke its hip, and another had unforeseen developement defects. Most of the eggs werent theirs. They have raised the last 5 beautifully.
Here is my pair with the goslings

Hi! I know this is years later, but I just happened to find your one photo while searching to find what kind of goose I have. It's supposed to be a Roman Tufted and looks just like the non-white ones in this photo you shared:

It has a dark bill (and I think darker legs though) but the same light tan marking on its belly. Its bill doesn't have the bump yet, but he's only 5 weeks old right now. What kind are those?

I have 2 tufted Roman males. Marcus and Tyrion. They are my world! I have had them both since they were only a day old. These are my first geese but I can already tell that this breed will always be my favorite. Tyrion meets the breed description perfectly, but Marcus on the other hand not so much. Marcus is the one most bonded with me. He loves to "preen" my

hair. Moveing all my hair to one side, then gently he grabs a mouthful of my hair. Firmly tugging it (dose not hurt). Then he will use his teeth to "brush" my hair. Satisfied he will move that mouthful of hair to the other side before grabbing another mouthful of my hair. If he finds a not in my hair. It makes his day! First he will squeal, pulling out the not. Puffing out his chest he will rush to show me the not he has just pulled out! After he has gone through my hair. He will "rub" my head. This part of the routine I love! It feels so nice I could fall asleep!
Even with all of his love and devotion. He has his mean streaks. It is large part of breeding session and being a male. But I do think a small part of his personality too.(no not a mean personality. More like bossy leader) For example when I take the geese out to hunt for worms (marcus loves eating worms) he will sometimes just randomly bite my face. Or if I let the chickens out first and he finds out about it. He will try to "punish me". Tyrion is my sweet heart. He just let's me love on him. The only time he is mean to me or trys to bite me is when Marcus is biting me. I am still teaching Marcus and Tyrion not to bite me (mainly marcus) but no matter what they both will always have a home here.
