I Love the look of these chickens, what is in the genetics??? How can I reproduce something like this?? minus the feathered legs.

The following is a guess:

Ok well until the experts arrive I'll give my 2 cents' worth. I don't know much about chicken genetics.

The roo almost reminds me of a Welsummer roo and I'd imagine that I see some RIR coloring.

scroll way down

The hen's coloration looks just like an Easter Egger I have had, but she has a single comb. I like to think of the coloration as Blue Buff Columbian, but I really don't know.

Take this with a grain of salt. I just felt bad that no one had seen your post yet and I had a similar hen once. Actually I also had a Welsummer roo once too but gave him away when very young.

If no one responds, you might do a search for Blue Buff Columbian and RIR Welsummer crosses to see if that is the case. I would be surprised if my guess was correct though.

Someone will hopefully nail it for you!

Where did you find the pics? Or did you take them yourself?

I think there's something other than Columbian going on with the hen.

but I'm no expert. Wild guess:lavender patterned partridge brown with red enhanceridunno.gif??!!

Maybe Henk will jump in. or you could PM him.

I saw them in a magazine and scanned them, so I have no clue of any origins

Henk69 is on the other side of the Atlantic so offline now, but he might make more of an educated guess.

They look a lot like pictures I've seen of BO's crossed with blue or blacks of another breed. Not all buffs crossed with black or blue look the same. Some I've seen look like this, and many have more or less penciling.
