I also wonder why they are so snarky, the heading is not quite clear and I have never heard of a public hatchery not shipping chicks.  Chicks don't need food or water for up to 3 days, BTW, since their mum will want to sit on top of them until all the babes hatch out.  I have raised 1000's of shipped chicks, only had problems with ONE batch, was my postman's fault. Just sayin............

I copy/pasted the heading BEFORE they changed the shipping policy.  I didn't expect this thread to go this way.  I really did want to know because I am after NICE bantam Cochins.  If they are the typical HQ, it's not for me.

A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! Our facility includes large incubators that hold 100's of eggs at a time to be able to hatch the quality, different breeds you desire. We believe that it is INHUMANE to purchase or sell and/or ship live poultry, wither it be day-old chicks, ducks, turkeys, or full grown. FACT: Did you know that when you ship a bird, it is ILLEGAL to ship a bird when it has already been given water and food? Well its true! Those birds do not get water or food for 2-3 from hatch, during transit, then to your house. So as we stand, WE WILL NEVER SHIP OUR BIRDS!

Maybe you probably need to reword that sentence to make it less harsher sounding or too direct. It is NOT illegial to ship chicks at day olds so I do not know if that is the LAW of your state that prohibit you from shipping chicks.

Therefore, maybe it would sound better if you would kindly say "We do NOT ship chicks because we believe it is unethical and unnecessary due to the USPS mishandling and unnecessary delays of getting the chicks to their destinations. Please respect our decision in not dealing with shipping chicks. You are welcome to come to our facilities to pick up your chicks. Please call ahead of time so we can process your order and the chicks will be ready for you to pick up at a given date."

That way it is much more kinder and it won't ruffle customer's feathers when they WANT you to ship.

Hope it helps!

I am happy that you are doing well!  However, since you don’t want a debate, I suggest keeping it non-debatable, and very simplistic.

For example:

Do you ship birds?  No

Personal beliefs, and religion are extremely important, but they are personal.  Not everyone agrees, so it is best to follow them yourself, and not impose them on others.

(This was ment to be helpful, not criticizing.   I created a website myself, and word choice is very tricky.  The more people you have to evualuate your work, the better.  Thankfully, in my case I had my whole family breathing down my neck gig.gif)

Best wishes,

Jamie

So you're like the wal-mart of hatcheries .... bigger isn't always better but polite and cordial will get you farther than the cold rigid responses thus far ....

I actually live close enough to purchase from you, although it would be a bit of a road trip, but I would *love* to see pictures of some of your birds. =)
