Got home from work just after ten and stared at the eggs while a couple rocked slightly, I was hoping for a little more action, then remembered the flashlight works them up some.  Shined them with the flashlight for five MORE minutes & was about to give up when I heard peep peep peep peep peep!!  I hadn't even HOPED I'd hear anything!  Brought the finace in & hushed him every time he moved or took a breath -  he's not as enthralled I am and subsequently was not rewarded with any peeps.  But I got mine!!!  I can't remember how long the normal time frame is from internal pip to external pip - I'm just excited to HOPEFULLY see fuzz SOON!

Midnight ends day 19.

New to the hatching game.  Trying to get it right!

How did you do it? Just shine the flashlight into the incubator? I wanna try it.

My sweet puppy, Maggie (1yo), 3 adorable baby pet rats, Darby, Lilah, and Faye, 3 cats, 2 bunnies, a goldfish named Ghoti (pronounced "Fish"), 1 Khaki Campbell duckling, 1 Magpie duckling, and lots and lots of chickens!

I keep expecting to get on this thread and see a pic of a chick. Mine are in lockdown but no rocking, pips or peeps. How do you know if a chick has pipped the air cell?

That's funny, LaynaDon...once I noticed the spelling error! wink.png For dyslexics (like my son) they would never notice it.  He takes mind pictures of each word as a whole, basically focusing on the size of the word and first letter.  Actually, studies have been done where people can read entire paragraghs of mispelled words...as long as the first and last letter are correct.  I find this kind of stuff fascinating.

I have no idea how it involves incubating chickens.....but still interesting!lau.gif  I'm waiting for more hatch updates!  Come on little chickies. jumpy.gif

I just shined the flashlight into the incubator and held it on one egg at a time.

I'm pretty sure the only way you can tell they've pip the air cell is that you can hear them.

Any more rockin' or pips going on this morning?

I've stared at my eggs so much, they're probably afraid to move!

I'm at Day 20, with my very first incubation.  Not a rock, or a cheep, or a pip to be seen.

At my last candle (day 18-before lockdown) I had movement in all 9 eggs.

I'm impatiently waiting for a little sign of life in there.
