setting eggs tonight!! anyone else? - Page 64

Thank You soooo much, for the help, I will try that!

Layna, how is your "girl chick" with the big comb doing?  She isn't crowing yet is she?? lau.gif  Sorry, I couldn't resist and I'm hoping she's a SHE!  I would agree with everyone else.  If the comb turns pinkish/red by a couple of months old it is most likely a rooster.  Regarding the comb size -that veries from breed to breed.  I don't have a leghorn, but here is a picture of my RIR pullet with not much of a comb at 4 months old, a month before she started laying...

How adorable. I can't wait for my Silkies & Blue Cochins to hatch!

Thanks, BJ...when will they hatch?  Be sure to post pictures of your babies.

I even thought of names for each of them...Hazey Daisy, Misty Blue, Silhoette and BB.  I can change the first two names to Hazey Days and Mr. Blue if they are boys so they aren't too girly. smile.png

-_- it's turning pinker every day.

Sometimes, I think life hates me.

Edited to say: I will know life hates me if the RIR chick turns out to be a roo. The leghorn/RIR cross and the full RIR chick are the only two of my eggs that hatched. If they are both boys, I'm going to be torn from laughing in irony and crying in contempt.

2 Silkie, 7 Cochin & 1 RIR due March 3rd. Then Silkies & Cochins every other day down to March 13th. Total of 6 Silkies. 8 of the total Cochins are pure bred, 2 are mixed w/Light Brahma, 6 a mixed w/a large black hen I hatched from an egg given to me. Don't know it's breed but has sparse feathers on her legs. She was large enough to be in w/Cochins. Hatching begins next Sat!
