Ok, chicken calculator says 12.5% chance when the hen is blue.

So if blue, her offspring would be splash, and from there it would breed true. ????

Black + blue= 50% blue. 50% black

Black + Splash= 100% blue

Blue + Blue= 25% black, 25% splash, 50% blue

Blue + Splash= 50% blue. 50% splash

When you cross Blue to Black you get 50% Black and 50% Blue.

All so Blue doesn't breed true like Self Blue ("Lavender").

True... add the colombian gene in there.  12.5% for a blue colombian female.  12.5% for a blue colombian cockeral, 12.5% blue solid female 12.5 blue solid male.  Total is 50% blue

I should have clarified that.

I've crossed a Light (Columbian) Brahma Rooster over a Blue Hen and got that same color pattern.

If you cross it back to a Columbian Rock then you should get Black and Blue marked Columbian patterned offspring.

I would say one if not both parents are out of a Columbian and Blue cross some where down the line.

I don't get it this topic.

The parents are 2 black rocks. Then there suddenly is a white parent?

2 blacks should never give a blue offspring unless one of them actually is a very dark blue (matt black).

Lavenders do not show this kind of lacing.

"this hen hatched from two black colombian plymouth rocks. "  I'm guessing it is typical columbian, white with (black/dark) blue markings.

A generation or two ago there was a white. At that time the theory was that bird was hiding a gene.

Yes, but the black offspring would not be able to hide the blue gene anymore

Henke69... I did not know you came to this site!  I use your chicken calculator all the time.  Thank you so much for all your work!
