BBB hen, killed 5 toms

Last year was my first time raising turkeys. I got 6 BBB , as soon as the 5 toms started strutting and gobbeling, the one hen, killed them off. We know it was her as we saw her. she killed 3 in one day! After that we let her free rainge, she killed one of my chickens (hen) that she had been having issues with. Is an aggressive hen normal? She tasted great at thanksgiving weighing 17.6 dressed out.

I have no clue why she would be that aggressive but so sorry for your losses hugs.gif

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

That's definitely not normal behavior! The pot is the right place for her to end up...quite frankly if you were to encounter that again I wouldn't wait so long until the body count got that high. A bird with that temperament has no place in a flock.

WOW that's crazy! NOT normal behavior! I would have separated her or culled her before she killed that many as well. My BBB's didn't kill anyone.

As the other members said, This is not normal behavior. Never happened to my turkey flocks. Sorry for your losses.
