The eggs are going through a change in color.

Here is a pic of the original OE shell I saved as compared to the egg from the same hen today 3/26/12

Is that change of color due to the fact that Marans eggs lighten over time, too? So there is less brown as the cycle progresses?

It is my understanding that a hen lays her darkest eggs at the beginning of her laying cycle. As the year progresses, she looses color/pigment and so her eggs lighten up. It is normal for a hen to go into molt and stop laying for awhile, and when she stars laying again, her eggs will be dark again. I guess what you say makes sense, then.

That is exactly what happens with any colored egg layers. Most people who raise them know about it. It's so nice that you update your eggs with photos. The ones I got from Penny were all a pretty Olive Green. She also does a great job shipping. I just had a 100% hatch with her eggs. That has been very rare for me with shipped eggs, so I'm a happy customer and will be back for more.

 

Here is a basket full of the cute, little fluffy chicks. She sent me some BCM as a bonus, so there are a few of those as well. Couldn't fit them all in the basket. lol They are some large, fat little chicks.

For sure. Some have puffy little muffs and beards and some have feathered shanks. All are super cute. Got one blue one... On the left, in the basket above. That one has super puffy cheeks and is so adorable!

I ordered eggs that are supposed to come July 9/10, from someone else :/ Why couldn't I have seen this first! Will you still be shipping in August? I would love some olive eggers! Plus the small order is better for me too!
