I think she is BCM, and I recently thought she must be a looster because she doesn't lay! Apparently I don't think that's the case. Lol

Do they free range at all or are they always in a run? My Marans are my absolute worst for hiding eggs! I always say every day is an easter egg hunt at my house! Lol

I have three Marans, one is a feather leg. 2 out of the three lay a copper colored egg. The Feather leg lays a brown variety.
They have been laying a month or so, but one of them seems to have a problem with the last step in her color. My question is not a
concern but a curiosity. Does this happen often? The RIR eggs are the lighter ones below as a reference.

at 22 weeks. She is not laying that way anymore. In fact non e of the Morans are laying..... I am a bit confused at this point. The RI, the Easter Eggers all lay fine. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it greatly.

The Black Copper Marans lays dark brown, sometime speckled eggs. They are gorgeous! Mine started laying this past week & she is right at 27 weeks. I'm so proud!
I got 3 BCMarans that started laying eggs in August @22-24th wks old and they also quit laying about 3 wks now. Must be their characteristics (read that they were not prolific layers) but didn't expect too soon before snow (winter). The rest of my RIRs and hens same age are all still laying.
