I was curious about something.

Will an egg with two yolks hatch two chicks, or will the chicks not survive?

I understand that often there are problems and they don't hatch but it can happen. There are threads here and you can check out this You tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1ZeEY-kt7A

I had a hen and she hatched ALOT of chicks in her life time. One was a double yoker. One gray chick and one black were in one VERY  long egg. They lived.

If horses and mankind were crossed, it would improve the man but destroy the horse.

A double yolk egg can hatch, but generally they do not.

What breed was the hen?

It is interesting that you would get two different looking chicks in one egg. That makes me suspect the father was a different breed than the mother.

I thought a double-yolk egg seemed like it would be too crowded for the chicks. I guess it can work out if the two chicks don't kick each other to death inside the egg.

I think she was a buff orpington cross with a lot of other breeds in her (she died because a haybale fell on her and her nest) and the rooster had RIr blood in him. we never realy specialized in chicken breeds.
