Thanks for the reply. So is you want bantams and can only have hens, what do people usually do? hu.gif

We have a great little mixed flock. 2 Faverolles, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Black Australorp and 1 Easter Egger.

Well, the only two ways of sexing day old chicks are Auto- and vent-. Since you can't safely vent-sex bannies, I suggest only keeping Wildtype and other autosexing varieties. They can be sexed (Wildtype) by the contrast of the shades in there pattern; or (autosexing) by the overall shade. (both cases, hens are darker and more contrasted than cockerels)

Wildtype Colorations that can be autosexed:

Gold Duckwing

Light Brown

Creme Light Brown

BLB

BLCB

BBRed

Golden Duckwing

Silver Duckwing

Autumnal

EP

 

Autosexing colorations:

Crele

Legbar

Autumnal Crele
