First time building a brooder.

Well finally got it pretty much done. Still have to hang my heat lamp and do some other small touch up things but the main construstion is complete. Let me know what you think or if I could improve on anything. Thanks.








Our five year is ready for the fuzzy butts to go in it!! ;)

Oh, that looks great! Good job!  For your light, you could probably just put it on top of the wire. That's how I do it, anyway,

Looks really good. Very nice!!big_smile.png  I hang my light on a chain with a double snap.  I DON'T trust the light clamps.

Thanks for the compliments. Think I'm gonna try to hang the light from a chain from the ceiling and make it adjustable up and down or just keep various wattage heat lamp bulbs on hand to adjust the heat.

Well you've impressed this newb and here's my question.

 

If I built that (what are the rough dimensions?) how long could I keep six ameraucana chicks in there? And would itbe long enough to feather out and safely join a group of other existing 3 birds?

I just use a light dimmer, I can dial down the temps as needed.

Scott the dimensions are 6'x2'6"x3' I'm new myself so I wouldnt be the best one to answer those questions.

 

Jerryb that's a good idea haven't thought of that.

great looking brooder. The steps are a touch of genius. After I built mine I realized I couldn't reach every single corner easily which is so important. Very nice!!
