I don't think I will build my new one on skids. The only reason the other one was on skids is because it was an ice shanty. And the skids came in handy when we had to move it into the yard, and then we just left them on.
I drove by where the coop sits today. It is down in a revine off the road, but you can still see it from the road. The owners of the property were burning it. :( Broke my heart to see that, but I know the owners had no other choice I guess. I don't know what is worse, driving by to see it sitting there, or knowing it is gone entirely.
As far as looking for salvagable stuff.... I have seen people out taking stuff (looting)... And people's emotions are still running high, so asking for things would just make me uncomfortable. Just a tough situation I guess.
I am hoping to just build a 12x12 shed and go from there. I still haven't really been able to find plans, and I am worried about getting so far into it, and then running out of money. Has anyone built a 12x12-ish building and insulated it? Rough cost guesses? I was able to find a few windows! So at least I have a start! :)
