genetic hackle eggs on Ebay

Hey Morgan
Just joined the site. Did you guys ever come right? this is a crime that SA has so many fly tyers and no breeders and we pay a fortune for hackle. Id love to hear from you to discuss taking this further. Matt HAden

I'm just now trying to find Genetic Hackle Chicken eggs, chicks, or Adult birds. I've been pestering everyone I can find that appears to have ever sold quality stock. I've had very little response. I'd sure love to know who all on this thread and elsewhere are still selling. I'm on a mission. Thanks for any responses.
Cheers, Walt

Any active genetic hackle people on here?

I hope y'all don't mind me dropping in on this old post. I don't have genetic hackle birds, but I do have 2 whiting true blues that were supposedly derived from some fly tie stock developed by Mr. Whiting. I noticed right off that they look a little didferent than my layers. I was hoping some of you may be able to shed a little light on some of my birds history

First thing... their beaks are different. The whiting birds upper beaks appear to be slightly elongated compared to my layers. I thought it was a defect but looking at pics of genetic hackle birds, this seems to be a normal occurrence?

Also, the whiting birds feathers appear kind of fragile, and easily broken. When I received them they were pretty homely looking from the shipping. Is this also normal? Will they get better once allowed to free range? Is this type of feathering particularly good for heat or cold or poor for either?

Just wondering. Any thoughts welcome!

Those whiting birds are bred for laying blue eggs, Tom Whiting never releases any stock for fly tying only normal poultry type of birds

Tom also runs a normal poultry type of business for certain hatcheries
