Pete, you are very sweet, patient, and attentive to your students!  Many thanks!  I am very happy with my new babies.  They are so CALM and SWEET!  I have a pair of adults that I believe are toulouse african crosses that came with the property that I am hoping will adopt the babies.   They have been coming to the brooder room window every day since we hatched our first duckings (3 weeks ago) and cooing to them.

Your gander is gorgeous!  Also, toulouse is actually my favorite breed and I drool over the pics of yours!

 

 

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 33 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 11 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

Thank you.  They do look like African crosses but I do find geese the most attentive parents.  We incubate our eggs but once pairs hear youngsters they are drawn to them.  I let our old pair of Toulouse adopt 2 sets of youngsters last year and they were amazing foster parents.  Im sure yours might adopt the goslings when they're older.

 

The Toulouse are our favourites too and Im hoping this year we finally breed some Buff Dewlaps - better keep my fingers crossed wink.png

What is the best way to introduce them?  How old should the goslings be?

I start to introduce ours by putting the youngsters in a run with the adults which gives them time to get use to them.  In the first week they're only out short periods to avoid chilling.  From about three weeks old I'll let them them run with the foster parents but they're closely supervised for the first few hours.

 

Yours are an early hatch so they're going to need quite a bit of extra warmth to support them in the early days.
