They came yesterday, all 10 of them. This hatchery really knows how to ship ducklings, they insulated the shipping box on all sides with woven hay on the inside. All 10 are healthy and very energetic! Will post some pictures tonight.

Chickens:  3 Japanese, 2 Dutch, 2 Milli D'Uccle, 3 Anconas, 3 Minorcas, 5 Ameraucanas, 1 black laced polish " Elvis".
Ducks: 7 Rouens, 4 Mallards, 2 Magpie, 3 Pekins, 3 Snowy Mallards, 3 khaki Campbells, and 2 wood ducks, 11 mom-hatched ducklings!
It all started 4 years ago with 5 ducks...

Country Hatchery "was" a joke! This teenager started a small hatchery as a 4H project. Then his mom and aunt started answering phones while he was at school. Long story short..... the kid went on to get his docorate and his sons now work at the hatchery. What started as an almost joke and a 4H project has stood the test of time.

Their website is http://countryhatchery.net/

Dr. Smith has written numerous articles in Backyard Poultry etc on Muscovy ducks.

Country Hatchery is still small and family run. You will get the attention a larger hatchery just can not provide. The person you talk to on the phone will be either the owner, his relatives or a close family friend.

About Us
Country Hatchery was founded in 1965 by my dad with one small incubator and a big dream. Actually, it was a 4-H project, and he was a Sophomore in High School at the time. He made his own catalogs and placed a few advertisements in farm papers. Soon, orders were coming in and his business was going and growing.

Over the years, Dad says it seems as if he hatched everything. That was when he was younger and more active in the business. Now, I assist Dad in managing every aspect of the business.

Once you read the information on Muscovies, I am sure you will want some. They are like no other duck, certainly no other creature on earth. I truly believe that they are one of the most worthwhile farm critters that you can have. Please go to the internet and google an article that my dad, Dr. Dennis P. Smith, wrote awhile back entitled "The Muscovy Duck". I believe that you will find this article very interesting and informative.

Please remember, I very much want to serve you as a customer; and want you to know that here at Country Hatchery we do everything as chemically free as the State of Oklahoma will allow us to be and still be a National Poultry Improvement Plan Participant and Licensed Commercial Hatchery.

We ship all over the United States except for Hawaii and Guam. We also ship to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Thanks for your interest in our family owned and family operated business--Country Hatchery.

Country Hatchery

IT'S HATCH DAY AT COUNTRY HATCHERY. Joe, Matthew, and I (Dr. Dennis P. Smith) start our day very early. It's still dark outside, but the babies in our hatchers are chirping to get out of the incubator trays and start their lives with their new owners. And our customers are very anxious to get their babies, so our day begins. We will take several thousand babies out of the hatch trays, cull and grade them, sex the chicken breeds, and fill sometimes over 200 orders with baby chicks, ducklings, turkeys and goslings. Soon the babies are in a box to either be picked up or mailed, sometimes clear across the country. When we finish with our work, it's dark again outside. We've spent the entire day doing what we love--working at Country Hatchery. We smile as we go home, knowing that tomorrow we will make our customers smile and be proud of their newly arrived babies from Country Hatchery.

Here I am, checking a few eggs in one of our Robbins Incubators. Constant supervision and maintenance assure you of a perfect incubation atmosphere, so necessary to the production of healthy, livable baby poultry.

Our hatchery is the oldest and largest mail-order hatchery in the state of Oklahoma. But we are still very old-fashioned in many ways.

  • We return phone calls.
  • We want to please the customer.
  • We refuse to sell anything except top-quality babies.
  • We monitor the weather in all parts of the country and box poultry where it arrives safely.
  • We are the only hatchery that we know of that will call you when your babies are put in the mail.

Actually, we could go on and on about the things we do to produce quality poultry and take care of our customers. Your proof will be in the way we take care of your orders and treat you as our friend first, then as our customer.

We sincerely hope that you will honor us with your poultry needs.

Thanks

Dennis, Joe & Matthew

I ordered 10 from Country Hatchery this spring and they should be here next week. I ordered 5 blues and 5 chocolates. The people on the phone were amazingly helpful and they are speedy with their mailing. I already got my order list with my payment attached. Now just to wait for the duckies to get here.
