IT"S A BABY !!!jumpy.gif and so cute!

I woke up to find five babies in the incubator.  I swear one looks lavender!!! I shouldn't have a lavender.  My nicest pullets are black/lav splits, but I don't have a lav roo!  hu.gif  So I shouldn't have any lavender babies.....maybe it is just a very light blue. hu.gif  I have a whole bunch of pips in the incubator, I can't wait to see all the babies fluffed and in the brooder.

How is everyone else doing?  Anyone else have pips?  Do you hear any peeps?

Congratulations on all those babies!  :)  I'd love to miraculously find a lavendar in my eggs!  :) thumbsup.gif

I've been hearing peeps all night.  (No - keeping it in my room was NOT a good idea!  They aren't even hatching yet and I was up every hour to check for pips!)  There aren't any holes in the eggs yet.  I'm concerned - how long does it take for them to pip?  I can't remember from last time and I surely didn't listen and check every hour the last time, either.

How's everyone else doing?

Just2rosey....that is a cool set up in your incubator. What is that you use to separate them? I need something that will fit in my hovabator, but havent found anything yet that will fit right. And yay for babies!! A surprise lavendar would be awesome!! big_smile.png congrats on your hatch, looks lile its going well.

Mine are still tapping and rolling around, no pips or peeps yet. Im not really expecting anything to start happening until tonight, anyway.

Jenanneray,  I have the eggs separated maternally in little baskets I got at the dollar store.  They are tall enough that the chicks can't climb out and I can easily put 5 eggs per basket.  I had to lower the rack in my homemade incubator so the lid would fit.  I wouldn't have room for more than four or five baskets.  Luckily I tend to have small hatches, usually just a couple dozen eggs at a time.  I need to keep a  nice rooster out of this hatch, and I want to be able to mark the chicks so I can track the blood lines for the future.

gig.gifSimz, this is my third hatch for this year, and it is all to fresh in my mind how LOUD chicks are when hatching.  gig.gif  I have my incubator in the corner of my dining room and can still hear the chicks through my closed bedroom door at the other end of the hall.  I hope you come home to pips and zips!!

So far 3 have pipped!  celebrate.gifThe one little sweetie has been peeping and rocking and REALLY trying to get out of that egg.  I'm excited because it's one of my Golden Comet's eggs and I was hoping one of hers would hatch.  She's one of my favorites - bold & loud!  LOL  I think that little chick must be taking after her.

WOW! a lavender. Maybe you roo is a split from way back?

Last night at about 130 I saw a pip but looked the same this morning. Then at 930 he started to zip and by 10 we had our first chick! now we have 4 others pipped and these are all some of the ones I couldn't see into so that makes me feel so much better. ya.gif

I will try to get my son to come over to post pics. Can you use an I phone to post pics here?

I was thinking about getting the new Reptipro 6000, but was wondering if you would be able to see the eggs pip if they are on the shelf? One good thing about these old style styrofoam boxes is the windows do give a good view. Think I'd still prefer to build one with DH and design it myself tho.

What is everyone using?

This is soo much fun! I even caught DH standing over the bator and watching the chick and the pips. Awwwpop.gif
