RIDGERUNNER, I have a question!

In the past you have stated that I have a preference for raising "non-real" chickens.  I'm wondering what you would call my latest flock member Widget?

Widget is 6 months old, so full grown for all intents and purposes.  She weighs 9 ounces and is approx. 5 1/2 inches tall.  So is she real or non-real?  Thanks in advance for clearing this up for mewink.png

The chicken is real.

I'm not so sure about Gritty.  hide.gif

No, no, no!  You are confused as usual Imp.  I'm real, Widget is real, it's the cats that are imaginary.

Gritty is real.  (Well, most of the time) hu.gif

That is not a real chicken - perhaps a very large parakeet? idunno.gif

Does she live in a cage in the house? gig.gif

I'm not convinced. I'll need some scientific proof that Gritty is real. I'm thinkin' restraints and a very large hatpin.

And yes, Gritty lives in a cage in the house.

Imp- off to search for hatpins

I have the smaller of my two brooders set up in the house.  I have informed my husband that should our February temperatures get nasty, i.e., below 30*F (February typically being our coldest month) Widget will be coming in the house, along with Dragon the crossbeak.

I bought Widget as a companion for Dragon, now that Dragon's hatchmate Harley is too big to share a coop with her anymore.  Turns out Widget is smaller than Dragon.

I take it that Widget's parents probably weren't Jersey Giants?

It seems that Widget must be one of those there "midget chickens"

I use to read about in a book...Chicken Little.

Spook
