seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

Chick season is coming! I've told myself I can have no more than six new chicks this year. I'm thinking of the following; Dark Brahma, Jersey Black Giant, Speckled Sussex, Cuckoo Marans, Silver Spangled Hamburg, Black Australorp - I'd like any comments / opinions on these as they'll all be new to me.

We have Dark Brahmas and Jersey Giants, both of which despite their size are mild natured birds and a pleasure to raise. My favorite would have to be the Jersey Giant. I think its only downfall is the amount of food that they consume during the growing phase.
