3 more days for me~ ^^
I find waiting to be easy when you start a schedule for the coming babies.
Such as listing the things I need to get done/buy for them before they arrive~
And adding things in the booklet on when to feed them what and when to take them off baby chick food etc. I probably sound like a creepo huh? XD But it's helping me a lot! I ordered them in early January. <3 Can't wait to see your's! ^^

LOL.. not a creepo at all! I'm doing the same thing. I've even started collecting egg shells and smuching them up for when my hens begin to lay. I've started a meal worm farm so it'll be up and running when they get here. I've been testing the brooder light so it's perfect when they arrive. (not to mentioned building the coop and run!)  I think that being over prepared is better than just picking them up one day and thinking "hmmmm.. now where am i going to keep these".

14 days till they ship!! Gonna be the longest 14 days ever!

Mommy to BR (Onyx), 2 Delaware (Pearl & Opal), BO (Ruby), Blue Silkie (Amber), Splash Silkie (Raine), 2 Golden Laced Orps (Goldie & Lacey), 2 EE (Bunny & Rabbit) & 2 Blk Javas (Crow & Butterfly)!

Also a Pit/Mastiff mix, an American Bulldog, 1 cat, a guinea pig, a bearded dragon, and a koi pond.

Oh.. can't forget my daughter, granddaughter, step-son, and wonderful husband!

Are they used instead of oyster shells? How long can they be kept? Do you wash them first? Oh and are they store bought egg shells? sorry so many questions, but anything to save some money.

I feed eggs shells to mine instead of oyster shell. They are free range. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I have never had a problem with their shell thickness. I started feeding them oyster shell because I kept getting told I should. My grandma gave me some of her oyster shell to try and I never noticed a difference in their shells. I still have some in the mudroom that I have fed them yet. XD I just feed them their own eggshells back to them when I have them. I don't bake or crush them, just rinse and throw them out with the other scraps they get. I haven't had a problem with egg eating, but if I ever do I'll just start crushing them.

I would not recommend feeding them store bought eggshells unless you are going to bake them. Store bought eggs can carry salmonella.

My sweet puppy, Maggie (1yo), 3 adorable baby pet rats, Darby, Lilah, and Faye, 3 cats, 2 bunnies, a goldfish named Ghoti (pronounced "Fish"), 1 Khaki Campbell duckling, 1 Magpie duckling, and lots and lots of chickens!
