personally i use Ideal = there is a direct flight from dallas to hawaii and chicks dont get transferrred from flight to flight- but i always loose about 1/2 for some reason or other, the ones that make it do great one they are a few weeks old

always always pay extra for the mereks vaccine and any others they offer its so worth it

I got 5 Polish roos from McMurray two years ago- one of each color (White, Buff Laced, Silver, Golden, Black Crested White).

I suppose they all looked pretty nice, except for the fact that they all stood around pecking eachothers' crests to bloody pieces. Not a pretty sight. I left a review about them if you'd like to see: http://www.backyardchickens.com/products/polish/reviews/6087

This time aorund I ordered some White Crested Blue and Black Crested White Polish from Ideal. They came recommended and are also the only hatchery that I know of that offers the Black Crested Whites (interesting!). My chicks shipped today so I should expect to receive them soon. Can't wait! I hope they don't peck eachother's crests like the ones I got from McMurray did.

I have a nice pair of silver polish that are show quality if your interested, they are un-muffed but if they are going to be outside birds at all I think unmuffed is better and easier to keep clean.  They came from Duane Urch.

All the white crested black polish that I ever got from MMcM were awful birds in personality and overall conformation.  The roos were horribly aggressive and had to be culled for those traits alone.

Living the good life with husband of 33 years, three grown, married children, 4 grandchildren.  And about 550 hostas.
Raising LF black javas,  BBS Marans and a few olive and easter eggers for a pretty egg basket.

Omg my white crested black polish girls from the are mean too.! I actually named one of the after a female dog if ya know what I'm saying cause she was a WITCH! she has chilled out a bit since I have newbies in with them all now but man I just had some awful luck with this hatchery.

I got White Crested Black and Gold Laced from McMurray 2 or 3 years ago and they were all gorgeous, well mannered birds. My Gold Laced Roo was exceptionally nice.

I should add that I got one Gold Laced hen from McMurray in 2007 that we still have and she still lays eggs! "Hattie" is my favorite chicken. Her crest is actually turning grey!

We've had great success with Polish from Duane Urch.  They are good show quality, and also hearty stock and very healthy.  He's a little old fashioned, actual paper and pen ordering through the mail, but I think it's worth the extra effort.
